All You Need is Love

In Scriptures and in the hymns of the Church, the theme of being guided by the Lord is repeated many times. A major section of the Old Testament chronicles the way in which the children of Israel were guided by the Lord through the wilderness and into the Promised Land. In the New Testament, we read of the way in which Jesus, the Good Shepherd, guided His disciples through years of ministry together and promised to be with them forever by sending the Holy Spirit, the Comforter, to be among them. Our Lord is with us to guide us today. As we hear His words in the Divine Service, we are guided toward our ultimate goal of sharing in the eternal presence of our Lord forever.

My Bible Memory Verse:

22 Having purified your souls by your obedience to the truth for a sincere brotherly love, love one another earnestly from a pure heart. 1 Peter1:22.

Digging Deeper Study

Jesus tells us to love God and to love man. Is it possible for us to do this and, if it is, who’s help do we need?

We all need love in our lives. Jesus tells us that we need to love others as we would love ourselves. Is it more important for us to love others or to be loved by others?

What is one of the greatest verses about love in the Bible. Hint: it is in the book of John.

In Mark’s gospel it is written And the scribe said to him, “You are right, Teacher. You have truly said that he is one, and there is no other besides him. And to love him with all the heart and with all the understanding and with all the strength, and to love one’s neighbor as oneself, is much more than all whole burnt offerings and sacrifices.” (Mark 12:32-33) The scribe appeared to be a sincere man. Is it possible for a scribe like him to be saved and in Gods kingdom?
