Enduring Words

Enduring Words

Jesus made a bold claim about His teachings when he said, “Heaven and earth my disappear, by my words will never disappear” (Mark 13:31). With this one sentence Jesus asserts that His words are on par with the Words of the Father (Isaiah 40:8). In this sermon about Jesus’ “Enduring Words” Pastor Frusti talks about the state of the Bible in American culture and explains the hope we have because Jesus’ words “will endure forever”.

Bible Memory Verse:
2 Peter 3:13 (ESV) “But according to his promise we are waiting for new heavens and a new earth in which righteousness dwells.”

Digging Deeper Study:
In Mark 13:28-29 Jesus criticizes people for not heeding warning signs to be prepared for the end times.  See his similar concerns recorded in Matthew 16:2,3.

Mark 13:24-25 has been referred to as a “veritable jigsaw of quotations from the apocalyptic books of the Old Testament”.  Use a Bible with cross-references or an online Bible to look up the Old Testament prophesies to which Jesus alludes in these verses.

Jesus speaks of the endurance of God’s Word in Mark 13:31.  Other passages reflect this throughout the long history of the Bible:  1 Peter 1:25Psalm 119:89; and Matthew 5:18.  What warning and comfort does this give you?
