The Scriptures tell us that they testify to Christ. The Spirit of God was sent to reveal this, first to the apostles on whom the Spirit came and to those whom they were sent to with the Good News of Christ. The Spirit’s agenda is to make known Jesus Christ just as Jesus’ agenda is to fulfill the saving purpose of the Father in whose name He has come. We acknowledge the work of the Spirit among us through the Word and Sacraments. We rejoice in the Spirit who teaches our fearful hearts to believe in Jesus Christ and to proclaim His Gospel faithfully to the world.
Memory verse:
Luke 21:15 “[Jesus said] for I will give you a mouth and wisdom, which none of your adversaries will be able to withstand or contradict.
Digging Deeper
The apostles were given the gift of ‘Speaking in Tongues” on Pentecost. What Spiritual Gift have you been given to use in bringing people to Jesus?
Paul says in Romans 1:24, “Their foolish hearts were darkened”. What role does social or peer pressure (or media pressure) play in keeping people in darkness?
In Acts 5:42, we read “And every day, in the temple and from house to house, they did not cease teaching and preaching Jesus as the Christ.” What opportunities do you have “every day” to “preach and teach Jesus Christ”?
