Counting the Cost

Have you ever hired a contractor to do a job for you? You describe what you want done and the contractor asks, “How many bricks will you need for this project?” You explain you’re not sure but probably not more than a couple of hundred—you hadn’t figured that out yet.

The contractor explains before he sets a price he must determine the amount of materials needed for the job. That’s a reasonable request.

It’s the same for each Christian who responds to Christ’s call to go to all nations. We need to figure out what it will cost us? We determine the cost by figuring out how many people need to hear the Gospel?

Recently members responded to a 10-question survey regarding missions. We asked how many people in the world have NEVER heard the Gospel? The responses ranged from, “I don’t know,” to “80 % of the population. “

The answer is billions—2.7 billion to be exact. That’s a pretty big job for you or I to do—but the good news is—we don’t have to do this by ourselves. Our brothers and sisters in Christ are going and we’ve been asked to help.

Will you support them? Will you pray? We’ve counted the cost for saving lives in Uganda by providing clean and living water to a school of about 900 students. The cost? For a donation of $25 you can help to send a trained brother or sister in Christ to provide water filtration systems—and tell the Good News along the way to those who are dying without it!

Join us on our Living Water Walk, Friday, August 11, at 8 p.m. in the Lake Callis Recreation Complex—and walk with us in the Great Commission. We counting on you!
